I have been checking this guy's stuff out, too. I snagged a lot of the Coil Stalkers to see what they might be like.

I don't think it would be too out of the ordinary for these to have been assembled from stock figures. I have swapped parts on 50+ figures on my own in the name of army building. The first thing I thought of when I saw the Coil-Stalkers (isn't that the name of a guy on Johio?) was the the reverse, the Coil trooper head on the Winter Ops Stalker, would make a great arctic troop builder. And the con Baroness head on the comic pack body would make a perfect comic Baroness. Not entirely practical, but not impossible considering the volume this stuff is made in.

I could see that. This would all be so much easier to figure out if I knew chinese and could lurk about on actoys :D
It would have to be somewhere along the process in between the factory and the junk dealer though, these type of sellers sell in bulk and half the time don't even know what the heck they have, they use our online archives or ebay to figure out what it is they're selling.

The different arms come off of the Con Overlord figure from the same year.
I think it looks kinda nice, i could see it being used to convey those that have higher or "command" type rank.

I think these are definitely just swaps. For a while now I have been seeing upper halves swapped with lower halves. I had imagined that o-rings broke and someone put them back with guesswork since a lot of colors match but are incorrect. Maybe it was something more than that. Baroness even has CG arms. But I can see that being what Baroness should look like to someone who knows a little about Joes but doesn't bother to check what parts are correct.

It looks to me like these are just figures cobbled together by someone who bought a giant lot of pieces. And if those pieces were at some point sorted then sold to multiple sellers, maybe they didn't even end up with all the right parts. That happened to me once.

I got a lot of 5 of the Coil-Stalkers. One had the overlord waist, and all the stalker heads had sloppy paint spray on the face, from the white on the hat, down onto the eyes. Plus the torsos aren't completely screwed together, either. They were all a bit "off", but will still be good for customs.

I was watching these oddities myself. Even considered buying up a few for the shop.

This is pure theory, but goes along pretty well with what notpicard is saying. I think that occasionally the sellers get access to overstocked parts in bulk. They might be flawed, or simply overruns. I don't know if they can buy them or just go dumpster diving, point is that they get them. From their point of view they can't see a market for random parts, so they make what they can out of them. The results can be some pretty cool looking Frankenstein's.

About a decade back something similar showed up. Some Chinese sellers had "G.I. Joe" figures that were made from almost completely mismatched parts. About 60% of the parts were full production G.I. Joe parts, 20% were test-shot parts, and the final 20% were other random 3 3/4 inch lines like Lanard, and even older figures like Remco. The sellers clearly had access to massive stocks of parts, but no clue what went to what. So they just started putting them together.

Some even had the oversized heads and arms of Sgt. Savage figures. Talk about a weird mix.

I'm thinking similar situation, different results.

Roger

I love some of this guys listings. I'm looking at his newest ones right now. The coil-Stalker's seem to have a "Made in Indonesia" stamp on them.
However, his listing here seems to win a prize of some sort. Coil troop body and arms, Overlord waist and legs, Stalker head.

Wow, that is an odd combination. I gotta get me one just for giggles.

Got a set of the Tomax's and the Night Creeper Drivers. They all look just like the picture, no messy paint of mixed parts. So it may just be luck of the draw who gets these in decent shape or not.
