Saw this site (http://www.collectinsure.com/) and was wondering what you guys do to protect your collection. Any feedback would be great!

Nothing...... yet.

But then besides a couple select pieces my collection isn't worth that much.

But when I trim my toy and comic collections down to more manageable levels I'll probably look into it as at that point it'll be more value then quantity.

Mine is under my home insurance as well. If an item was over $1000 it had to be insured individually but still under the same policy, otherwise I could just ballpark the estimated value.

I too have it under my home owners insurance. I think it is pretty necessary when you own several thousands worth of Joe. When I lived in an apartment it was under renter's insurance. Had to have it since I owned a water bed so tacked my joes onto it.

I concur with the others, I have it with my homeowners insurance as well. Don't go through those collectinsure type small groups. Get it attached to your home with a solid insurance company. My collection is worth a quarter of my house but the insurance on it isn't even close to a quarter of the insurance I pay on my house. Collector's insurance isn't very expensive.

I have it covered on my renter's insurance.

My agent tells me that everything in my house is covered under the insurance policy, so if it all goes up tomorrow, the insurance will "replace" everything I have with new stuff, like the TV will be replaced, but with a new one. On the Joes, she said to have pictures for if anything ever happened to them, but I'm wondering if the value as determined by the "replaced with new" under the policy would look at the price of new GIJOE stuff on retail shelves? I never get a direct answer on that, but that's more related to my agent.

So, what I'm saying is, as they said my Joes are covered, but has anyone ever heard of anyone having the renters or homeowners insurance "covered" policies actually get used?

I'm going to check with my agent today. I have renter's insurance but I'm unsure myself if my collection (which I value at several thousand dollars) is covered appropriately. I'd hate for something to happen and then only get $8 for my Roddy Piper figure, for example.
