Not too much in my area but there are a few nice places:
Greensboro, NCTarget on Lawndale Ave. - Always seems to have items before anyone else
There are no actual local toy stores in GSO, Acme comics has some Transformers and newer toys and over a year ago their backroom (employees only typically) had tons of vintage toys that I guess they just don't want to sell
Winston-Salem, NCSsalefish Comics - Great place, vintage and newer toys. Like Acme there's a lot more in storage than on the sales floor, but they also host a Toy show at least once a year (sometimes twice) and show up at the GSO Toy Show where they pull out all of the awesome vintageness they have.
Chester's Collectibles - Lots of toys, mostly 90's though. Sometimes the prices are right on, most of the time they seem a little high, but the guy running the store is nice
Salisbury, NCThe Comic Monstore - Great little store with a pretty good selection of vintage and new toys, make sure to check out the back gaming room as there are more toys back there (My Flagg was found in that back room

)
Charlotte, NCRebel Base Comics and Toys - Huge selection of vintage toys (so much they don't even fully know what all they have

)
Now these next two are from the last place I lived in (Kansas City, MO) I'll be checking them out again next week so I may have to update these two
Independence, MOMonty's Book Swap? - I think that's the name, Very well hidden toy/book shop underneath a medical building. I've seen crazy prices on incomplete Joe vehicles there and I've gotten great deals too. Many vintage japanese models for cheap as well (I cleaned out their selection of Macross models years ago)
Grain Valley, MOBrass Armadillo Antique Mall - Huge place with deals to be had most of the time. Since it's an Antique Mall there are some excellent items at great prices (My first time out there I picked up two of the Inhumanoids and a Voltron Castle) and some times you see crazy things like a sunfaded frankenjoe for $20.
