BREAKING NEWS JOE CON CHANGES DATE AND
VENUE

Interview with Eric AKA Alexx from Alexx Shorts
review

Mailbag

I have a question.. .what will it take to get Chuck to go
to Joe Con? I ask because I could use a few days of
peace and quiet in my house...
-- Barbara K Emanuele

I have been listening to whats on joe mind and really
enjoy it. it reminds me of me and my friends sitting
around talking joe.
I do have a couple questions.
I your opinions (I already know yours Chuck, JK) do
you think that as collectors that we are a reason that
joe has not caught on with kids now days?
Now I am not saying we are the sole reason, but a big
factor.
When we go to the store and buy up most of the
product on the shelves, mostly figures, do we take the
interest away from kids? When they look up at the
pegs and see only two figures for the most part I
believe it wouldn't be that interesting. With our "need"
to troop build do we actually harm the brand for
future joe fans?
I was talking to a friend and he said when he was in
Wal Mart one day.
there was a kid who was going up and down the action
figure isle upset because there was a lone POC Dusty
hanging.
My friend told him it was because collectors like
himself buy them up.
The kid was upset and went off on my friend.
Then my friend told him the best times were to get
there when they bring the pallets out.
The kid said he couldn' t get there at those times and
his mom said they lived a town away and couldn' t get
there much.
I know this is a case of Wal Mart not Stocking enough,
But also it is our fault too because we usually have this
habit of not leaving anything behind.
I am also Guilty of this army building thing.
My Second Question is If Hasbro really wanted to
market to children why wouldn't they have good
commercials on television?
I know it worked for us in the 80's I am proof.
Look at other things like BeyBlade and whatever kids
are into now, They seem to do well with the
commercials.
With the new movie coming out this would be a
perfect time to start this.
I do have two girls myself and they like Joe,
When my kids see commercials for anything aimed at
kids they automatically want it.
Do you guys think Hasbro already has this planned or
do they want Joe to always do just enough to stay on
three store pegs?
Anyway guys keep up the good work. Obviously I
meant everyone but Chuck. Just ribbing you again
Chuck. You guys are Awesome!!! YO JOE!!!!!

Can Justin better explain why he is so certain that some figures will not show up in the movie (Zartan, for example).

Does he have a certain insight we don't have? I would contend that you wouldn't release your initial wave of figures with characters not in the movie.

Keep rockin' on guys.

I had high hopes upon seeing the Retaliation Roadblock that someone would make a decent head to swap on to him as a “Slaughter conversion kit”, but upon the release of the hi-res pics I now see that his ankle and knee articulation has been completely gimped. I would like to emphasize that most of what Hasbro has done with the line has been phenomenal. PoC and 30th anniversary were dreams come true, and Hasbro at the absolute top of their game. They have maintained a consistent (with VERY few exceptions) quality of construction and articulation through the whole line since 2007. For nearly every figure they have released that has had any fan criticism, I have looked at it and thought “why are they down on this? It blows Marvel Universe and Star Wars away!”. I think that is why the loss of this quality is so frustrating and causes many of us to react emotionally… we have become attached to this line. In addition, the method of reveal also enhanced the problem… small pictures showing the great sculpts first, followed up with joy-crushing pics showing all the missing articulation. Anyway, I want to thank you all for the incredibly entertaining podcast you produce week after week. I anxiously await the release of each episode. Keep up the GREAT work. And don’t worry, I understand we will likely disagree on both these topics. I’ll forgive you when you tell me that my gripes are petty and unrealistic, and you’re tired of hearing whining about these subjects.

I don't know if this is an issue other people would be having, but it's been happening so consistently I don't know why it would be JUST me? As I listen to the podcast, right around 7 minutes the program always stops working now. But if I start it over, it plays just fine. No clue why, but it happens almost every episode regardless when I play them.

Hey guys,

Great show as always. Quick question for Chuck RE: possible
professional wrestlers being made into G.I. Joe characters. What are
your thoughts RE: Col. Debeers as a possible Cobra operative? I know
he's not very well known, esp by today's wrestling fans, but DeBeers
would seem to fit the bill rather well, hailing from (Apartheid) South
Africa back in the day, perhaps they could somehow connect him w/
Major Bludd as a mercenary, etc. Keep up the great work.

Best,

Matt

PS I took the plunge and began collecting Joe figures, picked up some
of the 25th and 30th figures ove the last week or two, wife is
surprising cool with it, we'll see how it goes, haha, take care...

Hey guys, I've been listening to the show for a while now and although it has always been great, now it's better than ever!

I have one questions for Gary, and one for the rest of you.

1. Almost right from the beginning of the show, Gary you have made it clear you loathe Transformers. The occasional interaction of you and Chuck when it comes to Transformers is hilarious. However Gary, your dislike of Transformers seems much stronger than just a part of the show. I know you have explained why Transformers are not to be spoken on the show, but will you please elaborate on exactly why you hate those robots in disguise. Have you always hated them, as a kid were you groaning and rolling your eyes at the sight? I just find it hilarious, please talk about it!

2. Confession time. I have TOTALLY burned out on gijoe. I have lost all interest, in the entire franchise, including the toys. Out of nowhere, I'm suddenly drawn to and interested in... wait for it... Transformers. Anyway my question is, has their ever been a time in any of your lives where you lost interest in joe for a period of time? Did you ever almost sell off your collection or anything? Did you turn to something else?

Matt

Agreed!!! Spill it Gary. I have some minor issues with Tranformers myself, and they have never been one of my favorite toy lines, but you seem to loathe them like no other collector.

Did Optimus touch you in your no-no places when you were little? Did Bumble Bee steal your lunch money? What makes you hate them so?
