According to their twitter feed.

Quote:
TWELVE exclusive 25A-style G.I.Joe figures (w/ a bonus thirteenth figure to subscribers), shipped right to your door! Two EVERY month.

So technically a 6 month subscription?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's 1 figure every month, with them being shipped out every other month...so 2 figures every 2 months...at least that's how I understood it.

2 figures a month for 6 months.

I'm very excited about the subscription. My hope is that we will at least see a few new headsculpts on these figures. For me, a new headsculpt goes a long way in making a mostly kitbashed figure into legitimate representation of a character. While I was glad to get the new Crazylegs, I would have liked him even more with just an original headsculpt instead of the Sandstorm reuse.

Hi, my main problem with the Collectors club is the club it self. I mean every time I go to their site I feel like it was made by an artist from the 60's. I'm not here to offend anyone but the spirit of the G.I. Joe it self is being a modern army an yet the feel of the site it self along with the designs of the figures are like they were from the yester-years.

Well good news everyone, just received this month's club newsletter and it says:
Quote:
The plan is to have two carded figures per month for six months (twelve figures). You will need to sign-up and complete the full purchase to qualify to receive a thirteenth carded figure FREE! Hasbro has allowed us to reproduce many of your favorite characters that are not on their figure production roster. We are having several new heads sculpted for this project. There will be something in the mix for every collector, including RAH classics, newsculpt era, and foreign characters. We are very excited to offer you this subscription service and hope you take full advantage of these limited edition figure releases!

It also goes on to say:
Quote:
These figures are all GI Joe Collector's Club exclusives and will not be available at retail in any store. They will be characters many fans thought they would never see in the 25th line and they will include some cancelled (retail) figures, along with some new imaginings.

So there you have it, turns out some of these figures WILL in fact have new head sculpts, but no new body parts. We will be getting some more 25th type stuff of characters we don't already, foreign style repaints, newsculpt characters, cancelled figures, and "new imaginings"...let the speculation begin!

Cool. It sounds like it will be pretty much exactly what I was hoping it would be.

"...along with some new imaginings?"

That makes me leery. I like to think that the club is the resource for fans and collectors. It will be a sad year if the club delivers us something akin to Dreadheads while Hasbo delivers us Kwinn.

I've said this many times, but I don't want to see creativity from the club in their exclusives. I want to see the stuff we clamor for and Hasbro can't find a way to bring to retail.

I am getting the subscription regardless of price. I will not pay $80 to $100 in the after market for a single figure that I would have missed out on because I did not subscribe. I plan on selling any of the duplicate characters that we already have and keeping the ones that we do not have. If they are all new individual characters, then the price is worth it regardless. I am thinking that at least 7 of the characters will be new individuals and 6 might be duplicates.

I don't think I could agree any more with all of these sentiments.

I really want to get on board with this subscription program, but everything seems to be pointing to me passing. $20 is just too much for one figure, carded or not, in my opinion. Even at $15 you're at the top of my spending range. All indications are that these figures will be in the $20-$25 range, putting the entire program at $240-$300. That's a big hit to take all at once too. If you have the ability to sign up for the subscription, but be charged on a monthly basis as the figures are released, they'll be better off. Treat the subscription as a committed "pre-order" of sorts.
