Awesome find.

On the off chance it's for sale, I'd be very interested. This is exactly the sort of thing I collect.

No kidding...when I see this stuff I always think, "Roger get a kick out of that..."

Very cool find though. Always good to get another piece of Joe history documented.

While I don't usually collect oddball stuff like that, I love seeing it. I would have bought that in a second if I saw it in the store as well.

For those interested, I found a little more info on the life vest:

From an article about new fishing toys in the Chicago Tribune published August 19, 1987:

"SGI Marine`s ``Navigear`` goes a step farther with life vest costuming in the form of a GI Joe flight suit for boys and a frilly blue and pink outfit for girls. Industry sources expect life vest ``playsuits`` to sweep the market in the next few years."

That's the last paragraph on a 3 page article about the American Fishing Tackle Manufacturer`s Association trade show. According to the article that trade show is where the deals are made in tackle shops for that fall and winter. So I assume the Vest was sold in the winter of 1987.

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1987 ... p-vectra/3

From what I can tell it appears the Navigear, Inc. company (who made the vest) went out of business around 1995 (when the registration was cancelled)

Can't find a catalog online, but I'm pretty sure I've seen that before....Maybe in the Combat Pay catalog.

...I know i seen this before too, I checked all the inserts and Hasbro Direct paperwork I have and can't find it in any of them.

Not in the combat pay catalog, either.

Maybe one of those, "Sell our shit, earn crappy prizes" programs...where you sold magazine subscriptions and such...I can swear I've seen that Life vest along with a number of other crappy prizes all on one white page

I'll look in my GI Joe magazines when I get home.
