Something I had suspected but didn't really realize till recently was that the Joe vehicle creators had kit bashed details onto some of the older stuff. I remember the Snowcat being one of my more favorite vehicles due to it's detail, it turns out that a bunch of the engine and missile launcher was taken from a combination of Tamiya motorcycle and WWII tank kits. I first thought this was going on when back in '87 when I got my Sea Ray I noticed that part of the tail was made from a Macross/Robotech Valkyrie/Veratech chest plating but I didn't know how often this trick had been used throughout the line. Makes me want to go back and REALLY look at my old vehicles, anybody else notice stuff like this?

Ohhh, that's a good one! A gun made into a gun. I found this info a while back on Yojoe.com about the Defiant shuttle...

http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/87/defian ... t_ee.shtml

So they were kit bashing other Joe vehicles that had already (probably) been kit bashed for a Joe vehicle. I thought that was interesting.

That is awesome. I had never head about the stilleto gun before. I knew about model parts and other joe parts on joe vehicles, but I had not known they took inspiration from Transformers.

Thanks for sharing.

Happens all the time in almost every toy line. In the early 1980's it was mostly model kit parts. By the 1990's you started seeing a lot of parts from other toys. I don't think you see it as often anymore because so much of it is done on computer, and vehicles are not made as often as they once were. Still happens occasionally though.

One of my favorites that's hard to spot because of the scale change is Buzzers original chainsaw gun. It uses parts from Rock n' Roll's M-60, and the butt from Baroness' laser gun.

Check out some of the Palitoy Action Force vehicles. You'll spot a lot of Star Wars parts used in the details.

Way cool. I had no idea about the Sea Ray. Good catch.

Just randomly spotted another one. On the top deck of the Mobile Command Center, you can find the entire torso and head of the SDF-1 in profile.

I took a look and comapred the (83)takatoku and (85)matchbox SDF-1 heads and they arent close enough for me to agree with you.

There were a lot of bootleg SDF-1's out out in the 1980's, and that's got to match one of them.
