Hasbro would care enough for G.I. Joe to really secure it's mythos much like starwars. To really invest on it to have it's own coffee table book and have a guide to the universe type of book. To bring it back like in the 80's where they release per year and they have a leader, a heavy machine gunner, a girl figure, an edge weapon specialist, a dreadnok, cobra troopers for army building, a cold weather specialist, a jungle specialist.
I, too, have wondered at times why Hasbro invests more time, energy and money into Star Wars, a line they pay to produce, and not into GI Joe, a line they own outright. The first reason I've been given/heard is Star Wars is more popular. It makes more money.
While this is true, I feel that Hasbro's lack of direction at times for GI Joe has hurt the product line. Developing popular media content (Resolute) but not having toys available to support the cartoon. Having a major retailer drop your product line and then proclaiming you didn't know.
Hasbro's Joe line is like Blockbuster video. Always trying to catch up. They're constantly following the puck but to be successful, they need to be where the puck is going to be...or at least ahead of it.
