I just followed Gyre-Viper over here 'cause I don't have much of anything better to do.
Well, I could go exercise and do my laundry, and finish watching my Season 2 Clone Wars DVDs which were actually much better than I was anticipating...having not seen the majority of the episodes 'cause I'm so lazy and unfocused and spend way too much time on the internet. But I digress.
I know a few people here from other sites, and I also briefly met some of the names I recognize here at Joecon last year. If you're going this year, I'm a
lot skinnier now.
I love GIJOE, but really it's COBRA that always attracted me. I would join a terrorist organization determined to rule the world if their uniforms looked like that. In a heartbeat. Style will ALWAYS triumph over substance. It's just a fact of life.
Of all my toys the parentals forced me to sell at the garage sale between my 7th and 8th grade year prior to our moving to a new town and a much smaller house, I fought them to keep my Joes (well, actually my COBRAs, the only GIJOE toys that I owned as a child that were
not COBRAs were Ace and the Skystriker and a Recondo I got as a present) and my Transformers. I still have 'em to this day. Destro was and is my favorite character. Back in the day, when the neighborhood kids pooled their toys together to play GIJOE, it was just
understood that Glenn would
always be Destro or Glenn would take his COBRA army and go home.
As I recall, no one ever fought me over Destro, though. Everybody wanted to be Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and Firefly and Quick Kick.
As an adult I've collected GIJOE lightly to heavily ever since that ARAH-mold TRU exclusive COBRA soldier six pack was released. The 25th line was literally a dream come true for me, as that's what I'd wanted Hasbro to do with GIJOE since the 1997 TRU Commemorative line. My focus is mostly COBRA army-building and making pseudo-dioramas (that is, action figures posed in scenes from the cartoons, comics and, occasionally, my own Joe-Verse with little to no scenery).
